About the Prepárate Conference

The Prepárate™: Educating Latinos for the Future of America conference is a part of the College Board's commitment to educational excellence and equity for all students. The College Board and its members are focused on building an educated citizenry prepared to participate in American democracy, society, and economy, and Latino students’ success is crucial to this goal. Since 2007, educators and civic and community leaders have addressed the educational challenges facing Latino Americans. The importance of serving the nation’s growing Latino student population is paramount, given that the academic success of these students is crucial to achieving this goal and ensuring an integrated, competitive society. Prepárate is an unparalleled opportunity to discuss issues affecting the education of Latino students now and in the future.

Prepárate highlights national models that are successfully preparing Latino students for college success and life. At the conference, participants discuss new solutions, share best practices, and collaborate with colleagues to make a difference for Latino students. Latino K12 student population growth can be leveraged with the rich cultural history of resilience and succeeding against educational odds. The focus of Prepárate is to provide a platform for educators to present strategies that address the unique cultural and ethnic needs of this important group of students.

Modelo de la Comunidad

The Modelo de la Comunidad award is presented to individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to the improvement of the Latino community and others. While not specifically limited to the field of education, the awardee should be involved in work that encourages an educated society. The recognition is designed to acknowledge and honor the awardees contributions and to highlight their good works. The presentation of the Modelo award at the annual Prepárate conference provides a forum for our community to thank and support these leaders for their tireless advocacy and work to improve lives within our community.
